"You are training your
horse every time you
work with it, be it good
or bad training. I want to
help you make sure it's
good training."
Beginnings
A lifelong horse person who believes
training horses is an ongoing education,
Jen established Acorn Hill Farm with her
husband, Steve Grady, in the 1980s. At
the time they began to breed Arabians
for show and sport, but from the
beginning Jen's barn doors were open to
all breeds and all disciplines. One of
Jen's most noted Arabians was her
stallion Sikorski who was an
accomplished show horse and sired
many offspring who went on to
successful careers both in and out of the
show ring.
Philosophy
Believing a solid foundation is key to
both horse and rider training, Jen
blends the best aspects of natural
horsemanship and dressage in her
training style. The owner is an active
participant in the training process as
Jen's goal is to produce capable,
confident horses and riders who
understand and enjoy the sport. No
matter the discipline of choice, Jen can
give a rider tools to improve his or her
horsemanship and the horse's
rideability. In fact, Acorn Hill farm has
produced many champions at the
national, regional, and local levels in
both hunter pleasure and western
pleasure with Friesian, Arabian, and
Morgan horses.

About JEN
Friesians
In the 1990s Jen was introduced to the
Friesian breed by a training client, Sue
Porter of Sea Chanty Friesians. Acorn
Hill Farm's first Friesian was Zizka,
purchased in 1999 (when she was one
day old) from Sea Chanty Farm. The
following year Jen purchased her full
sister, Avalon, from Dr. Charmaine
Brown. There have been Friesians at
Acorn Hill Farm ever since, and Jen is
an active promoter of the breed in both
Friesian and Open shows.
"I have been very pleased
with the training that Jen
Grady did with my 3 year
old, Psyntrific. She has
been wonderful for me as
well; I was fearful of riding
a 3 year old, and she
helped my confidence
grow throughout the
season. She was flexible
about my needs, and I
loved the fact that she did
natural horsemanship
methods with him. He is
soft, calm and going to be
a great western pleasure
horse. I will be showing
him myself next year with
Jen's guidance.
Thank you Jen!"
